I have three hurricane lamps that I have been trying to identify. The lady that I bought them from told me that they are rare and valuable but has no other information. I have tried to to research the mark on the bottom but they aren't that clear. One has the gold seal that says Made in China.
I would like information on these if anyone has any idea who might have made them or any other information.
The lamps had been used it seems as candle holders. They haven't been cleaned of the wax.
Thanks for any info that anyone might have about my lamps.
The United Wilson factory of Hong Kong sold a porcelain that was manufactured in China with a simular mark but with the unicorn on one side. This mark has two lions. The center of the mark might be Qing 'Guan' chinese for Imperial. Your photos are to blury. The European market and chinese porcelain factories made a lot of things together. With most "unknown marks," Hong Kong is blamed for everything. This mark would be attributed to United Wilson factory Hong Kong. 1960's
Rare and valuable? Doubtful you will find one on eBay. United Wilson factory has a big collectors market and so does the hurricane lamps. Nice piece.
I got a better photo of the mark if you want to research it more; I will post it with the blue and white porcelain piece I have with the English pattern.
Papa, thank you so much for the information. That gives me a place to start. And no, I have never seen anything like it on ebay or any of the antique sites. I did take it to the library but I could not make out the mark well enough. Once again thanks!
