I bought these two swans at a local thrift store hoping they were murano. I do have a few other murano pieces but nothing this big. The biggest one is 17 inches tall and the smaller one is 13 inches tall. Does anyone have any ideas on them? Thanks.

      HI Mc3378

By style, these are almost certainly Murano and the flat polished pontil (bases) is another dead giveaway. The techniques used are Zanfrico which is a combination and Sommerso. The Zanfrico is the white glass and the Sommerso refers to the whole lot being cased in clear glass. Date wise, anywhere from the 1950s onwards

Thanks Dean for your comment. When I bought them I felt they were murano or from a glass company that does quality work, I feel they are very well made. The beaks are applied glass but done very well, I have others with applied glass from when I first started collecting glass and what a difference. One thing I am sure about they are not chinese. Thanks again for your input. Cheryl

No problem Cheryl, always happy to help. The quality of Murano glass does indeed stand out and if it doesn't feel or look quite right - normally it isn't!
