These little fellows have been in my collection for about 40 years. I probably picked them up at a thrift sale, but don't remember where. I used them to encourage my eight children to learn to read when they were younger. There is a signature on the base at the back but I can't make it out because of bad eyesight. Can anyone help me to learn more about these cute little ones. Thanks.

Hello, your pair of bookends look similar to other bookends made by the Pompeian Bronze Company. Examine the bottom (under felt), there will be two small rough holes towards the center if they were made by the company.
The process they used involved coating a plaster cast with metal particles using an electronic charge, similar to electroplating. The two holes in the bottom were where the wires were attached to the plaster.
If you go to eBay and search Pompeian Bronze, you will get a better idea about what was made and values.
Hope this helps and good luck!

Thanks so very much for the lead ,too_much_stuff, I visited ebay and am fascinated by what I saw there. I also had some company of mine get in the sunlight and see if they could read the writing on the bookends. They said it looked like Art Bronz copyright KBW or either RBW.......Do you know anything about this company?
