Signed Kralik pieces are extremely rare, and are pretty much limited to the cameo glass production from 1905-1910 that was heavily influenced by French glass production, from the method of production (acid etched and carved layers of glass, as well as the style of the signature, sometimes followed by the word Bohême (the French spelling of Bohemia).
This piece has a layer of opal-white and yellow-green marbled glass, cased in clear and then flashed with a layer of purple glass from which the design is executed using the cameo glass acid cut-back technique.
Note the vine placements on the lid, which align with the vines on the bottom, creating a continuity of the design over the whole of the piece. Diminutive in size, but big on design, this rare piece is a welcome addition to the cabinet!
