Bought on eBay. Looks authentic to me. I paid $225 inc. shipping which may be more than I should have paid, but I liked it and wanted one soon for a Christmas gift for my son. Seller has had it listed several times for $299 I think, no one bought it. He listed it as buy it now for me at $225 so I pulled the trigger. If it's not an original go ahead and let me have it! I can take it. Sure LOOKS old enough.
Very similar sign in VG shape (at least compared to this one) sold for $410 inc. shipping (link below). Maybe that's better for a "real" collector, but I think the one I bought has the junky, old look I want.

I say it's the real deal. Real and old. 1936. Nice! I love this sign. Your boy will be happy with it. Well done.
Not sure about the year, maybe closer to '40.
Your son is lucky to have a father like you. I'm sure at Christmas he will be very happy when he opens that coke sign!
Thats a good sign,& it should clean-up nice with a bit-o-work! I like to give the dull signs a coat of clear gloss after cleaning, brings the shine back, but the purist sign collectors will advise against this. Up to you, but a great piece at a good price!
Good buy. I think it will actually clean up pretty well. Just be very careful with the rubbing.
Nice find i like how it has the 1923 x-mas bottle, i would say its a pre 1940's sign made sometime in the 1930's. i also think it will clean up pretty good, i use a mr. clean magic eraser to clean my signs.
Great point Trev, this is a Christmas gift, and the sign includes the famous Coca-Cola bottle with the Dec 25 patent date. Sweet!
OK, you guys are good! I didn't even notice it's a Dec. 25th dated bottle. Cool. I'm afraid to clean/polish until I read up on it a bit. Fortunately, I do have nearly every cleaner, wax and polish known to man due to years of older fiberglass boat ownership and restoring!
Oh, quick question - is it wise to use some rust inhibitor product on the back to stop the rust? I wouldn't do it on the front because it could change the color.
NewCoke, you are already ahead of the game with having all the experience with the boats. I use a boat hull cleaner on my signs that are "needy".It removes all the rust front&back. Then spray both sides with highgloss clear, to stop the rust from returning, it'll shine like new & won't hurt the paint.
Congrats on a good find in time for x-mas!!!
Thanks for the feedback guys. I'm trying not to get addicted!
