In Sanskrit, her name is Padma-pâni, or "Born of the Lotus." The pure white lotus flower according to one creation myth it was a giant lotus which first rose out of the watery chaos at the beginning of time. From this giant lotus the sun itself rose on the first day. She is a symbol of the sun, of creation and rebirth. All your statues are of the goddess we call in America Quan Yin. Quan Yin is a shortened form of a name that means One Who Sees and Hears the Cry from the Human World. She is worshipped especially by women who are victims of men, on the 19th day of the 2nd, 6th and 9th moons. Goddess of mercy. she was originally male until the early part of the 12th century when she evolved into the higher supernatural immortal female being. Feared by abusive men, worshipped by women.
