One of the most famous American radio brands, Philco started in 1892 as a battery manufacturer, then switched to radios in 1928 as alternating current made batteries unnecessary. Philco became known for its floor radios.

    Works beautifully. solid wood.

How much would a radio like this be worth today?

There's one for sale on Ebay right now for $169.00, local pick up only. Shipping for one of these, if done correctly, could be as much as $500.00. The one on Ebay did not look as good as this one and was located in PA. Tom

Have a neighbor friend who has an old Philco model 41-285(0)--not sure about the zero at the end--other numbers were J68625 whch might have been a serial number--she was hoping to get some kind of value on it before listing it for sale--any ideas???

Philco's only console radio for the 1946 season used seven tubes and received standard AM, shortwave from 9.3 to 15.5 mc, and the new FM band (88-108 mc). Has six, push-button, preset station selectors. It operated on 115 volts, AC only.

I have one very similar to this one in my basement, but am not sure of the year made. It doesn't work and I have an individual interested in taking it off of my hands. It was my great grandfather's and had to have been built in the 30's or 40's. There is a number on the tube container in the inside as V73156. Would that be the model of the Philco radio?
      Any help would be appreciated.
      Thank you.

I just picked up this floor model today.... its in absolutely beautiful condition after I cleaned it up!! I am so very very HAPPY!! The best part is that I picked it up for ONLY $20 USD. Sorry had to brag a little!! lol Curt, look on the inside to the left there should be a piece of paper it will have a series of numbers like i.e.: 46-??? mine is 46-480. Does the front say philco at all? I am stoked!! I think these 46-480 are rare and it was the first year of the FM band... I think they are worth a lot more!! Most are in horrible condition or not working!!

I have a 1946 Philco radio model 46-480 that was my grand parents. The only problem I have is the sound is very low and I don't know what is causing it. All the tubles light upbut the sound is gettoing worse. Anyone know if that is due to a tube or what> If so please email me and let me know and I will be glad to pay you for your advise. I love the radio and just want the sound to work. One guy send me an email years ago and said something needs to be cleaned but some how I lost his email. Any help or advise would be greatly appreciated. Thank you

Dixie38.38 I am sorry but I am not home right now or I would send you a picture for your request of the plug. I will be back home Saturday or Sunday and if you provide me with a phone number or email I will either txt or reply to your email with a picture showing you where and how to hook the cord up. dalcb63@yhaoo is my email so you can send me an email if this is better for you. Hope this help you.
