    (310 items)

When I opened the metal box, which was in a WW II duffle bag of items, I found the items you see here. The rations are quite solidified. The boxes of gun cleaning items might not be from the WW II era, but they were in there, so I included them. The clip is about half loaded, .45 caliber.
    Enjoy

Great old items from that duffle bag, I like the "C" rations, but it looks like it says
      "D" rations.

ttomtucker, thank you for looking, you are correct it does say "D" ration. here is some info.
"Specifications governing the composition of the D ration were only slightly changed during the entire life of the ration. The ingredients were chocolate, sugar, dry milk, cacao fat, oat flour, and flavoring-a mixture providing 600 calories per bar. Some changes in packaging requirements were necessitated by material shortages and by suggestions for improvement. In 1944, when emphasis was given to use of the bar as a supplement to other rations, a half-size or two-ounce bar was introduced to provide a smaller unit."
Sounds like it was like a candy bar or something.

The ammo cannister is WW II German, and was used to carry belts of ammo for an MG 34, or an MG 42. Each can could hold five belts with fifty rounds on each belt. They were also used to carry gun cleaning kits or whatever was needed for the gun crew.
