    Got this 11 inch lion on eBay and the seller claimed it was carved marble? Cost $9.00 free shipping. First marble is a form of chalk or limestone and this lion is not marble. Onyx shines more and looks more beautiful then marble. Most of these carvings are banded calcite from Mexico and called onyx or marble. But, for 9 bucks and 11 inches long I am happy it is not plastic resin.
    UPDATE; local rock shop said not onyx, marble or calsite, but from South Africa and a Botswana agate? Lions and Africa; who would of thought of that?
