Bill Denton (former mgr of Hot Tuna) was a great figure of my childhood. I learned to swim in his pool. I tried to break-dance on his floors. I broke my collarbone falling off a retaining wall, doing stupid kid stuff with my sister. I gave a kitten to Diana Lehr as a birthday present at his house - I remember it climbing through her hoop earrings.
My mother, Pretty Pattie, was one hott hippie - a magical mixture of bashful and bold. One evening in 1983, Owsley Stanley was hanging out at Bill's house in the Aptos hills. He was showing off his new belt buckle designs around the dining table. Bill bought several of them, giving this signed #3 to my mom. He paid $40 each.

My brother was a friend of Owsley's. I also have a bronze buckle. My brothers wife had a silver, and my brother Mike aka Magic, had, to my knowledge, the only solid gold buckle made. If you, or anyone you know him, or knew him let me know and I'll give you his address. He's currently serving the end of his twenty year sentence. Chemistry got a lot of brothers in trouble back in the day. My email address is davidacevedo@cfl.rr.com

Hi Amy, It's Diana Lehr. It was great to see your post and remembering me and my beloved Kitten. I lost both Bill and Kitten within a year. I still have them near in my heart. I keep trying to call your mom, I know I have the right number because it is her unmistakable voice on the message. Tell her I love her, okay? I hear you are doing wonderfully, it doesn't surprise me. You were the most sensitive, compassionate little girl to know that I needed a kitty in my life. I can't tell you how much it affected my existence. Thank you sweetheart, thank you forevevr from the depths of my soul!!! Love, Diana

That is a rare and valuable buckle, very cool and a great story. I haven't seen one in quite some time, but they sell for mad money on ebay
