I got this money box when I was born in 1981. I've never seen another one. It has no markings and I'm not sure what it is made of. Can anyone give me any idea on who made it, where it came from or anything else?
I have been trying FOREVER to find info on these... sadly (like yours) mine lost it's red "fez hat" over the years and the plastic plug on the bottom. They are made in England, the plastic plug on the bottom made by "Regina Industries Ltd".... my makers stamps are worn down and I have a partial letter (maybe a J) followed by N2M... but it was a bounced stamping so even that is hard to read. If you look on the right foot (his right :P ) you should be able to look (close to where the seam is) and see some markings, if you have a magnifying glass and alot of patience you may just find some more info that I cannot find. I believe they are silver plated (I could be wrong). Mine was given to me a few years ago, and when my father found it in a house he was cleaning, it was 1976.... not sure when they were made... If you have found or possess any information I don't have already, please post it. I'm dying to know more !!!
Kind of reminds me of the old "Bongo" character but I couldn't find any banks under his name.
Hi - I know, 5 year old thread - but that's the beauty of the internet!
I have one of these too, and have gone nearly blind straining my eyes with a loupe, looking all over his right foot looking for markings. No luck.
My plastic plug says "Regina Industries Ltd Made in England", with the numbers "P0030" right at the edge. It turns out Regina Ltd are a plastic moulding company and most likely only made that plug.
Anyone else out there have anything on this rather solid old piggy bank?
Just in case.. anyone ever finds themselves in possession of one of these.. it's called 'Freddie Teddy', and was made by a company called Falstaff some time in the 1970's. Silver plated apparently.
:D
