I do need some help with this piece.
I have an idea or two about its identity, but I am not sure and would invite some comment.
He came from the Rozelle flea market six months or so ago and was just lying on the ground on a piece of canvas on his side.
I suppose he is a paperweight. He is very tactile, weighty and is 12 cm tall ( about 4.7 inches). I pick him up like you'd pick up a chess piece.
I like the way that his face is 'suggested' and the hands are placed in prayer. As you move around it there are different features revealed on his face. He has gold “avventurina” flecks in his tonsured hair and to the edges of his wrists. The cassock is ”a bolle’ which suggests the lace over the plain black surplice. Note the edge of the of the cassock has a clear trim as well.
I think it is a clever piece of glass sculpture.
At the moment he is placed next to a Finnish candle for Xmas.
I keep the decorations to a minimum.
Just a guess but how about Barovia??
This is just a fun piece I found while seaching

Other candlesticks Robert Welsh on the table with the cracked Lalique coquilles. I got another boxed Welsh in a different form a couple of weeks ago!
