I have this hand made, hand carved religious altar that I believed was made in Louisiana. I am from Louisiana and it appears that the wood is cypress. I don't know how old this piece is but I would say early 1920s or so. It is about 24" wide and 24" tall. The detail is amazing and someone spent a lot of time putting this wonderful piece of art together. If anyone could please help me with any information about this piece; age? period? maker? religion? value? etc. There are little drawers on the piece along with a swinging gate. It looks like small candles were put on the piece but there are no residues of wax. Thank you very much and any help is greatly appreciated.
This is really amazing. The only thing I know about this is that it is Catholic.
