My Mother's Grandmother gave this flask to my father about 45 years ago. It came down through the family and was most likely owned by a relative in the upper state New York area around the mid 1800's (region & time frame fits our family history but we could be wrong). If anyone has any information that would help us to determine age, history, approximate value, etc. it would be greatly appreciated.

American Flask and Cap Co. was in business in NYC from 1857- 1870.

At shows these are priced in the $350- $500 range.

Thanks everyone for all the great information. The scene is the same on both sides. I will get a picture of the powder hole posted tomorrow (at work now). Thanks again!

I've added a few more pictures so you can see the lever and spout.

I have the exact same black powder flask. The only difference is that it has never been cleaned so it is dark with the copper only showing where it has been rubbed. There are actually still some black powder pellets inside.
