Although not in my collection anymore, I did like this Aurinkopullo. I gave it as a present to a good friend of mine, and I know she did appreciate it.

These Sun bottles have an amazing look and are liked by almost everybody. They come in four sizes (standing aprox. 33, 23, 18 and 13 cm. tall) and a myriad of colours. Some collectors try to get as many different colours as they can in each one of the four sizes... and looking at how many they are and the prices the big ones can reach, that really must be quite a valuable collection. Maybe one day I'll get my four Aurinkopullo vases in four different colours... maybe.

I have just realized I posted this tem twice... ach, shame on me!!! :)

So I am deleting the second one but as the text I wrote is different I am copying+àsting here as well as the comments and loves it got:

"This is the smallest (12 cm.) of the most famous series designed by Helena Tynell for Riihïmaen Lasi in 1964: AURINKOPULLO (or Sun bottle).

It was made in foour sizes, and it really has become an incredibly sought after item (the bigger it is the rarer it seems to be) and they can reach amazingly high prices (one of the reassons for that is tha the bigger ones are of a better glass quality... I guess my small one is a "consolation piece" for those who couldn't get the bigger ones, LOL)

They were made in virtually every colour used by Riihimäki at the time: clear, amber, purple, several greens and blues, lilac, the "radioactive" yellow...

o, by the way... next post will be N0.300... I still haven't thought of any speciall piece to share, but I gues it should be an extra-nice one ;) LOL"

A beauty, I keep on looking for the big one, but it never came by my way, yet... Thanks for sharing.

Of these pieces I am only dreaming in distance. I came too late. Even the small ones are expensive. But there is a consoloation: There are other pieces by Helena Tynell which are very beautifull too and easier to get.

Well, most of Tynell's work is really sought after (she has designed such brilliant stuff!) but yes, you can still find a few unexpensive series (let's not name them here ;) )
Thanks cobaltcobold, lass, vet, MacArt, ozmarty, mustangtony, bratjdd, miKKoChristmas11 and AmberRose for your loves!

It certainly looks like one, you're not the first one to tell me, although I think the designer's idea was that of a sunflower :)

I am in the learning process myself! Much further behind you, but I am a quick learner when I find a topic fascinating. Any good sites or books you can recommend?

I'm afraid I have no many books on glass... they're rare and expensive in Spain and I just have a few basic ones... the famous Leslia Piña books and other stuff on Lütken (Glass is life), Nanny Still (three books on her work) and a couple others on Finnish glass... Most of what I've learnt comes from the internet, after searching and searching... I spend a lot of time looking for stuff on ebay and then googling whatever I find interesting... but sadly not even on the net one find as much as would be desirable :/ I'll try and made a list with the best ones amd post it here for you :) (and do not hesitate in reminding me about it)
