A few days ago I saw, for the first time I must admit, a Lisa Larson's Lion on ebay... I told my partner how funny it was and just yesterday Scandinavian_pieces uploaded here some pictures of the same lion (http://www.collectorsweekly.com/stories/39929-lisa-larson-gustavsberg-gigant-lion?in=user), plus two grouping of both cats and dogs designed by Lisa Larson. Then I remembered my parents had one when I was a kid and that used to play with it... I went to my parents place thinking I wouldn't find it at all, but there it was, hidden behind an ugly souvenir at my mother's displaying cabinet.

I have my doubts about if it really is a Lisa Larson piece or a copy "made in Spain" but... hope someone can help me.

By the way, there is no sign or stamp at all... do these dogs bear one somewhere?

      Thanks Amber and Scandi! :)

Scandi, I got your email with the info and all those pictures, THANKS SO MUCH! I'm answering you by lunch time!

Well, it really looks good to me but I guess a little investigation will be great. I will probably contact Lisa Larson herself :)

Gang, this sure looks like the same mold...you sure you didn't get crazy with a paintbrush when you were a kid Austro? Little glue with sparkles for the eyes?

      Scandi, I will post my email as well. Sadly I will probably check this site throughout the holidays as all are coming to my house. Lots of cooking in my future :}

haha, I am sure I didn't Amber! :) I was such a good kid... just look at the dog: I used to take it from my Mom's cabinet and play with it and she never realized I was doing it and it is in a great condition now, about 30 or more years later :)
    6. austrohungaro austrohungaro, 13 years ago
But even if the mould seems the same, Scandi is a bit puzzled about the colour and the texture... and she's the expert in Lisa Larson :)

Austro, perhaps it is time to send an email to the LL folks? I am going to guess that this is a one time production piece and is worth a zillion dollars!
I am intrigued by this, even more so as Scandi is puzzled.
I wonder if I asked your Mother if she would say you were a good kid??? :D

I already sent that email and am now waiting for their answer :) I don't think the dog is that special... but I guess that, if real, it is an early edition -I'm guessing from the mid 70s- or an export one...

I certainly was a good kid 0:D Then I grew up and became what i am now, but I WAS a very good one at the time lol

I just got an answer from Johanna Larson (Lisa Larson's daughter I think): "Both Lisa herself and Franco at Keramikstudion seem to think it is a sample bulldog made by Gustavsbergs Fabriker, from around 1972, but it has been glazed by a student or somebody who decided to make their own decor! It is thus a genuine Lisa Larson bulldog by shape but with an amateur finish!"

      Isn't that funny? LOL

The production date does make sense... I was four years old when it was made and probably 5 or 6 when my mother got it as a present, so I was in the perfect age for loving the dog and playing with it :)

I love my little bulldog! :)

Thanks so much to Johanna and Lisa Larson, Franco from Keramikstudion Gustavsberg and Scandinavian_pieces for their help!!!

Wow! Interesting. How wonderful that they got back to you. Makes my respect for LL go even higher. The best part is that you rediscovered happy childhood memories and dusted off an old friend. Happy for you Austro!
    13. austrohungaro austrohungaro, 13 years ago
Thanks Amber! :) I dusted it off, but I'm guessing it will get more dust at my place now... It's not in my mother's covered cabinet anymore! LOL

Yes they do bear a stamp on the foot. http://www.collectorsweekly.com/stories/97468-lisa-larson-for-gustavsberg--sweden

H's very very cute still:) love him:)
    16. austrohungaro austrohungaro, 11 years ago
I still think mine could be a fake one... I guess it would have been easy making a mould after a genuine Larson bulldog and then having copies made out of that mould.
    17. SEAN68 SEAN68, 11 years ago
this one is hard to figure out because the 2 holes on the bottom of the feet.
    18. austrohungaro austrohungaro, 11 years ago
it's precisely the two holes that make me think of that... and the colour of the material. In your bulldog it's brown like clay, mine is white like plaster...
    19. SEAN68 SEAN68, 11 years ago
how does it feel , meaning is smooth or rough?
    20. austrohungaro austrohungaro, 11 years ago
Should go back home and check it first... :)
