Can anyone tell me anything about this machine?Ive had it for about 15 years,I put clear coat on it and it looks to be in good shape.It has a light on the side and has like a knee switch under the table.Wiring appears to be old,never tried to turn it on.Like to know more about it,someone please help me.
The machine is a Singer model 15 from the batch of 50,000 machines commissioned on June 17 1908. The machine would originally have been a treadle, you ccan tell this by the spoked wheel and that there is no handle/motor mount on the side. It has been put into a new table designed for an electric machine. Is the bobbin slide cover missing? You would be able to find a manual for it on line.

Hmmmm clear coating ruins it...but I guess throwing over the hill makes them more valuable.I guess some of the people in Maine aren't to bright!

I'm not sure what those guys are on about. I will give you an honest opinion based on facts.
These machines are not rare and not scarce even at the moment, but we should preserve them and try not to throw them away. There were millions of Singer machines produced, and the 15 was one of the longest running models. The one you have is in reasonable condition for it's age, it would be worth a lot more in it's original cabinet with original accessories, in excellent condition. Some one in the past has removed the Singer brass badge from the front. The machine has been converted to an electric and placed in a table. This may have been done by a Singer dealer, it was a service they offered. It would be possible to revert it to a treadle if you found a cabinet for a full size Singer.
