I found this piece, made with silver coins, highly undervalued at a local thrift store. Immediately, I was drawn to the size, shape, weight and of course the wonderful craftsmanship of the repousse surface.
Knowing nothing about repousse at the time, but having an eye for expensive and quality things, I got it home and researched the item. It is stamped "Orhan Kenan", and has a 900 mark, indicating that it contains quite a bit of real silver. These types of mirrors are made with silver coins, and appear to originate from Turkey or nearby areas. As to the age, it looks antique, but I'm not quite certain.
It's lovely and I'm looking forward to using it in photo shoots to lend its romantic and mysterious qualities.
What is it's size. I have one myself here on CW.What do you think it is worth?
Mine is marked Tekce 900 and is 3-1/2 x 4-1/2 .....Check it out.
I'm not sure of the true value, probably based on the amount of silver in it. I know that others have been listed for over $200, but I don't know if this is driven by collectability or silver weight.
Thank you...... Did you get a chance to look at the one I have on here?
Hi i came across to this post, i have almost the same one with a mark 900 SK, any news if this is made of pure silver?
