I found this in the desert in Las Vegas in the 80's. It was already purple then, it was in an old dump. I have never seen another one like it, and was wondering if anyone knows what was in it and when it was made. It has a screw on cap that appears to be silver. Any help would be appreciated.
    Thanks for looking!

From the size & shape I would say it's probably an old smelling salts bottle that would have held a combination of fragrance and ammonia for a lady to "revive herself" if she felt faint (maybe from hiking in the desert...?). Clear glass prior to about 1910 turns that faint amethyst color when exposed to the sun for a very long time, so it would be at least that old. What a neat find!
