I remember back in about 1967 at the age of four I was so drawn to these beautiful rainbows that the fire lit up on my Grandmothers fireplace mantel. I would push the chair to it after staring and waiting for what seemed like forever for the adults to leave the room. As soon as I reached for one my grandmother would peek around the corner and yell at at hands off Liz.She would smile and say some day those will be yours so leave them be. When I was able to ask the magic question, how did she get the rainbows up there she would say the rainbows got stuck in the glass and needed a new home. My mom caught me one time and said I had to leave them alone because Grandma had them a long time and I had to be carefull or they would break easily. We moved away and I finally lost the memory of them until my grandmother passed away. I was about 16 then and went to see grandpa. So I thought they were gone. I was 24 When my dad died and my mom said she had some carnival glass that Grandma left for me. I really had no idea what she was talking about. I just thought she had some dishes for me. I just turned 48 and they are now in my possession. They are the molded carnival glass candle sticks with grapes and grapevine leafs on them. They look just as beautiful as I remember. I have them in a spot in my house where light can hit them from every angle. They have no signature markings on them that I can tell. The only thing I found odd was the 3 dots on the top part where the candles are set in them and a ruff spot inside each one that really is not noticable unless I run my thumb along the inside of them. I found one sight that said these are rare but I have no idea. However to me they are rare because my Grandmother owned them and I could never put a value on that. Before I started searching online I had no idea there were others. I have only been able to find one other set during my search. If you wouldn't mind maybe you can give me a little history as to who may have made them. I know about carnival glass being produced as a way of those who were unable to afford the more expensive types of home decor items and the giving them away at carnivals hence the carnival glass name. And prizes. However the fact that there is no actual brand name or markings on them has me curious.
    Thank you for your time,
    Elizabeth N.

thanks for sharing the story of your candle holders; it makes them very special just to have from your grandmother. It is not unusal for glass to be unmarked as many glass companies never marked their glass. These were made by Indiana Glass in their 'Harvest' pattern. Here is a website with a bit of info on them: http://indianaglass.carnivalheaven.com/id36.htm

      TallCakes,
Thank you so much for the information. The sight you provided me was very helpfull. I decided after condirate thought to give them to my daughter as a special Christmas gift hopeing that one day when she has children of her own they would see what I did as a child. She was very excited and a little taken back that I would do that because she knows how much they mean to me. I told that is true but not as much as she does.
      Liz
