I simply adore this design. Well, I have to face it: I adore these sugar bowl and creamer sets in glass. I've got about two dozens of them and always find them surprising, but maybe this one has the best design amongst all of them.
I love the simplicity of its organic shape, the clever design of the handle and its cobalt blue colour.
Added on Nov. 8th: Thanks to JayHow's question I've found out VIPSTJERT is Danish for Wagtail (Motacilla Alba). So this organic shape is actually an stylized bird, so the whole design gets a new value now. I absolutle adore it!
Thanks JayHow and thanks to my Danish friend Steen for confirming the info!
Thanks MuranoArtGlass :)
Sorry Austro, don't know how I missed these fab postings.
Thanks Amber! But at last you didn't miss them at all... just saw it a bit later :)
It funny Austro, I feel I spend a lot of time at this site (perhaps too much) and still things get past me!
such a beautiful set
Hi JayHow! Do you mean this kind of blue-green? http://www.collectorsweekly.com/user/austrohungaro/per-ltkensgrn
I have seen these in grey and I think also in Akva blue. It wouldn't be so strange they made it in seagreen too, even if t wasn't such a widely used colour!
I cannot answer more than what i can find out via google translate... it'sa bird called wagtail (one of my favourite ones, by the way). I'll ask someone Danish to check out that's the correct meaning!
In any case, if you look at the creamer... doesn't it look like a very stylized bird with a long tail??? It all gets a new meaning now! :D
JayHow: I just received confirmation from my Danish friend about Vipstjert meaning wagtail!!!
