Oreschnick & Yokes, Crested Butte, Colorado Hutchinson Soda bottle, 1902

CRESTED BUTTE, COLORADO was a mining center at the foot of the Elk Mountains, in Gunnison County, Colorado. Today, it is a center for mountain sports, including skiing, biking, hiking, fishing, camping, etc. Back in Crested Butte's mining days, it had all the amenities of such towns as Aspen, Telluride, and Cripple Creek; however, not many of Crested Butte's beverage dispensers went to the expense of having their own bottles made. There are only three known types of Crested Butte Hutchinson soda bottles and the Oreschnick & Yokes is an example of one of these. This bottle was used in 1902, and then was discontinued. All of the Crested Butte Hutchinson soda bottles are among the rarest of the Colorado examples. The Oreschnick & Yokes is the second-most difficult to come by; the Welsh in the most difficult; and, the Elk Mountain Bottling works is the easiest -- if there is an easy Crested Butte hand-blown bottle to acquire.
