I love, love, love old bears and they don't have to be the best of the best antique bears because I truly believe that all bears deserve our respect, even the ones I like to call "mutts"!
These photos show a small portion of a very large collection. Some of them had to be gently stored away until someday when I might have the space in my very small home to display them all together.
I am just beginning to acquire a nice group of bears from England inluding my first ever Merrythought Cheeky bear (although he's not terribly old, he's a very important bear in my HUG!), two Chad Valley bears (one being the first old bear in my collection sent to me by another vintage bear enthusiast in Spain who thought he would like to have a go at it here in Canada!) and a nice big bear (pictured with the small Chad Valley in the green chair) who is said to be English but the manufacturer is unknown to myself and the two ladies I usually go to for any kind of information on old bears!
If anyone out there recognizes him and can tell me anything...I'd sure appreciate it! And I suppose he would too! He is also pictured in the first photo leaning against the wall in the blue romper! I fixed his paws and plumped his face so he could fit in well with the other bears in the HUG!
In front of him is a beautiful old French bear that was sent to me by a lady in Paris on a trade for some of my own handmade bears! She is also sending me...and I couldn't be more excited....a Steiff bear from the 1950's for yet another trade!! I'm very thrilled about that!
Love your collection!!!
Thank you so much! Since those photos were taken, we added a few more "old" friends!
Too fun!

I love your collection too. Would your mystery bear be a Pedigree bear do you think? I'm in Canada too. I love that you do trading, that is a great way to get bears. I wish there was a network to set up contacts for that!
