Hi! I am trying to find out about this silver service passed down to me. Is this for coffee or tea? And I've never seen cups like on the far left included in tea or coffee service sets? How do you use this set? Also, on the big tea/coffee pot, I am not sure how to use it because there is no way to pour in anything. The top does not remove. The only opening I find is the spout... any information is helpful, thank you.
Very hard to tell anything by these photos. Look to be 1940's chrome, possibly Chase. The tall piece is more likely a cocktail shaker, which the goblets would go with. The tray may be silver plate, and not a match. Are there any marks on the bottoms of these pieces?
I added more photos. I didn't get a close up of the sugar bowl though. I'm wondering if there are matching pieces for coffee and tea somewhere since there is a sugar bowl and creamer. Yes, the tray is definitely not a match. It has the number 10 on the bottom of the pieces that do match but no name or anything. It really doesn't bother me if they are not real silver though because there will never be a price on these since they were my grandmothers. I'm really just curious so that if people ask, I know what I'm talking about. I did look up pictures of the 1940's cocktail sets and it is very similar, I wouldn't have thought of that. I'm still not sure why there is no opening in the tea/coffee pot/ or shaker though. The only one is in the spout. This is the biggest mystery to me... very strange. Thank you for your comment, I feel I'm going in the right direction now. If you have any more info I appreciate it, thanks!
I found this about one online. The only difference is it has ruby in it. It is also a chrome set and missing the spout cap just like mine is. Still doesn't explain about the missing or non visible opening though.
New Listing! Art Deco chrome cocktail shaker pitcher with red bakelite handle and 4 ruby glass glasses on chrome bases is something that's very hard to find and sure not to last long on the site. Red is the most difficult color to find in vintage bakelite handle chrome pitchers, and of course ruby glass is equally rare and looks great with the chrome base stems of the glasses. The pitcher features a flowing red bakelite handle and impressed bands in the chrome on the top and bottom of the pitcher, and the pitcher also has a top as well as a cover cap for the spout which is often missing in these vintage sets. Each of the 4 matching glasses is quite unique in that the glass is formed to screw onto the chrome bases, and the ridges in the glass add additional design flair. The pitcher stands approximately 13.0" high and 4.25" in diameter at the widest point not including handle and spout, while each glass stands 5.0" high and with glass bowl 3.0" in diameter. The pitcher and all 4 glasses are in excellent condition save for a very minor surface dent down at the bottom of the pitcher, part of a Dallas, Texas estate collection of Art Deco chrome and accessories. /165
I think the top should come off and may just be stuck on tight. Do a e-bay search for chrome cocktail shaker in completed items and there are several really close to yours.
Just noticed the dent just below the top. This could be preventing the lid from coming off. The lids on these insert tight about an inch.
