Anyone know much about old chairs like this, I had it for some time and everyone seems to go nuts over it when they see it. The chair is solid and great to seat in, no marking on it anywhere.

welsh very old,see them on the BBC antiques road show often.
ps i think theyre called Windsor Chairs.
Justin-sanford is correct, it is a Windsor chair. There are about ten styles of chairs. This is known as a comb-back Windsor chair. Just a guess that this chair is possibly from the 1940's. Early Windsors date back to the late 1600's-early 1700's. Most early originals were painted in colors such as black or dark green, and will show much wear on the seat, arms, and strechers. I hope this helps.
I agree with stepback-- probably from the middle of the last century.
It looks to be very well made. The style has been popular for several hundred years and they are still made today.
Thanks for sharing,

Thanks for the info everyone, I was kind of thinking it was from the 40's
