I bought this item from a humane society thrift shop. It looked very old and reminded me of the Victorian period - the glass is very pretty amethyst color and felt very thin to the touch but seemed quite durable/sturdy. It is very dainty and small in size - approximately 6" height and the widest area or base is is approximately 1" (measurements are through visuals only - I'm still looking for my measuring tape). I think it is a perfume bottle as there were lots of art works with the embossed willow leaves and goldplated on most edges/rims and some gold touch near the embossed area to highlight the carving - if anyone can identify the period on this and what this bottle is about, I'd appreciate the history. Thank you very much.
This looks like an egyptian blown glass perfume bottle. Here are many examples here http://www.fromcairo.com/pb/Start_Perfume_bottles.htm
