Old oil painting from England. Shows name of painter which I can bearly make out as Reginald Mills signed almost at bottom right hand of
painting. Google shows there was an early 1900s Reginald Mills painter in England. Any experts out there who can recognise this painting?
Reginald Mills painted portraits, landscapes and coastal scenes. Before the World War II he illustrated a number of children's books but at the outbreak of war joined the Auxiliary Fire Service and as an active member of a fire fighting crew made a series of dramatic paintings recording the London Blitz. He also illustrated a number of books on the subject: "London's House: As Seen Through the Eyes of the Fire Fighters", 1942 and "In the Service of the Nation: The N.F.S. Goes into Action", 1944. A number of his paintings are in the collection of the Imperial War Museum. Could be a Painting that was used in a book? Most of his work was between 1920-1950. He also worked with James Haworth & Company, one of the main British advertising agencies. I seen some prices for around $2500.00 but who knows these days!!
