Now to start with NO I do not support killing elehants for their ivory!
I have aquired this through much simpler ways, I found it at the bottom of a box that I was rummaging through when we had verge side collection here in Perth. I have had a look on the web about it to see if the numbers on the bandaid are on it dig up any info but nothing.
during my search I found out that the laws were changed in the 60's which protected elephants from poachers so if the ivory was dated before the law then it was deemed leagal, if after the law deemed illegal unless it has been registed which therefore would have numbers, as does this peice. unfortunatly I havent been able to find out anything about it at all!.
If it turns out I shouldnt have it then thats fine I will hand it in to ????
but if it was before the law then I think that it should be looked after as it will be a part of our history as (unfortunatly) savages.
If anyone knows more on this topic I am very interested to know.
One more thing, NO It is not for sale!

mate i think it looks more like walrus ivory/tusk,Elephant ivory is bigger diamiter at the face end where it is hollow,this size it would be completely solid,walrus ivory is covered by CITES ledgislation,google for the facts,walrus ivory is still very sought after by scrimshanders and folk artists.
Yeah good point about the diamiter, that would make sence.
