This school bell belonged to my Great aunt ,Fanny Kerr Kane, who was a school teacher in Pocahontas County in West Virgina. She taught in one room schools in the early 1920's and continued teaching for years. She would use the bell throughout the day, or as my Mom told me,, call the class to order. My Grandmother took care of the bell until her death, where it then was passed to my Mother who has it now.
The bell is marked on the black handle with the number 5. The bell is 6 1/2 inches high, and 3 1/2 across the bottom. It is brass with what looks to be a wooden handle. Thanks for looking.
Great family story, love the bell, Happy new years to you and yours!!!!
