A beautiful example of Moser glass Brandy Snifter. Each panel is hand cut, with facets between the cabochons, then it has been hand gilded with gold paint on each panel.

We bought this along with a similar 14" Vase with a chip on the rim several years ago. The vase is somewhere in our basement. At todays auction in Ashland, OH there was a set of 6 drinking glasses. I asked the person who bought them what they were. He said they are Moser. The set of glasses went for over $500.

A term that is being used for this type of panel cutting is "listovane".
      It's not to everyone's taste.
But I have always liked it.
      I have baroque tastes too!
Moser did it and another great firm called Egermann too!

"A very demanding and costly decorative technology. After the first blowing a crystal semi-product is overlaid with another layer of the colour glass mass. The major part of the colour layer is then cut off (the colour glass forms so called "bevels") and the crystal surfaces are polished with polishing wheels and decorated by hand using the (sic) real gold."

I believe I remember hearing that this type of glass was patented by Franz Heide (there are also old catalogues from this firm) If I can find the catalogue images I will try to get them to you.
