Can anyone help me identify this chair? I purchased this round bottom, carved wood chair at an estate auction, and the only marking is a partial label underneath that reads: The Ford & Johnson Co. Cincinnati, Ohio. I have searched the web, and can't find one like it. I would like to know more about it. Perhaps someone who is fimiliar with antiques could help me. Anything you can tell me about the chair will be greatly appreciated. Thanks for your time. I just added another pic, because I didn't see the creatures face in the carving until now!

Check out this link. Scroll down until you come to the Renaissance Style Chair.

I ran across the link looking for a chair I have and recalled your post. Not sure it will help much but perhaps you could combine the maker name and chair style and find something using that for a search string in Google. Good Luck.

I just found mention of a catalogue for 1906/7 at this address:
      http://www.grpl.org/wiki/images/Michigan_Artisan_1906-05-25.pdf

The "Michigan Artisan" is well worth a look.Your chair is not there but it talks about a large catalogue.

Ford & Johnson also made chairs for Hitchcock it could have been something in their line.
