I loved this little piece (notice the past tense). Not vintage or murano, just really pretty and priced right. Nice and thick, really colorful and pretty. Can you believe I broke it less than a week after I got it? Hit the floor and shattered into a million pieces! I collected every shard and have been saving them in an old coffee can. Would like to replace her, but can't find anything like her for a reasonable price. May try to repurpose the bigger pieces into something, not sure what. Feel horrible about destroying her. RIP my friend!

retroechoes- thank you so much for your reply! What a fantastic idea!! This vase was so gorgeous. I have been so heartbroken over her untimely demise and looking for ways to repurpose her. The only idea I came up with involved making some type of mosaic frame or planter by gluing the broken shards onto an existing piece. A transparent resin print or "sculpture" would make for a much more unique and lasting tribute. Thank you for the links. I had no idea that polyurethane resins were so user-friendly. I'm so excited!

      Hi Deco

Creating the classic Fazzoletto vase is an amazing thing to watch. The glass master blows and manipulates a basic bowl shape in his piazza (work station) then stands up away from the working area. He then takes the pontil rod and swings it backwards and forward through almost 200 degrees in motion. As he does this, the basic bowl shape begins to collapse and it form the pinched rim effect that typifies the fazzoletto shape. An incredibly difficult technique as the pressure that is placed on the piece during the swinging motion and the sheer weight of the vase as it hangs from the Pontil, is one of the most extreme balancing acts you will find but a sheer JOY to watch.
