Hi. Anyone know the maker of this teapot? It has a very picturesque but unusual backstamp.

Love this tea pot, primarily because I'm a sucker for this color. I've looked at a lot of pottery, but have never seen a mark like this. My only thought is that it could be a European mark, or at least not made in the USA. How/Where you acquired it might begin to give you a clue as to its origins.

Meet another sucker for this colour. The colour could be 'Celadon' which is widely used in Asian pottery. But your piece isn't Asian(?) I really like that you can see three marks from where it sat on stilts in the kiln.

Extensive makers marks from Japan & China - someone may want to bookmark for reference.)

The marks on your teapot are very clear (all that's lacking is a name!), to me the glaze could be a salt glaze. Where did you acquire the teapot?

Will try and do an image search, see what I can find.

Sorry I couldn't have been more helpful.

http://www.gotheborg.com/marks/20thcenturyjapan.shtml shouldn't have put the parenthesis in front of the link.
