      This really is "out there'!
But then that is it's charm; the images challenge the eye and require you to ponder and seek a solution. The cat on a chair and the the search for a coconut up a tree.
      What a treat!
At university my professor of Italian Frederick May gave us "Supplementary Documents" that we could use as stimulus material in an exam. She was some thoughtful woman to put this stuff together. Treasure it!

Thanks Scandi, it really is a testament to a grandmother's love, all of that work. Vetraio, if you think this is "out there" you should see my mother's collages. The creative element is definitely is in the genes! I love the playfulness of the way the subjects are sometimes arranged in the album. Historically, the themes of nature and the natural world are very Victorian. Thanks Vet, I do treasure it :)

      Was she a teacher?
The binding is really beautiful too!
Tooled maroccan. The leather 'insert' is a very nice touch.
      Perhaps she was a book-binder?
I love paper marbling. I did some myself as a kid.

My great, great gran was not a teacher. My guess it that was not uncommon to make scrap books in the 1880's and to have leather bound books was not unusual as well. But who knows, she could have made the actual album herself, it just never occurred to me. Thanks Vetraio.
