Skysmum
(1 item)
Hello, I bought this 15 years ago from Murano Italy. I am a novice glassblower and our family owns a glass shop in Boston. We had a meeting with several studios while there. This was in one Artists office on a shelf covered with dust. He had no idea about the piece. Said it was his Uncles. No signature, markings or label of any kind. We talked him into selling it cause I really loved this piece. I hamd carried it back to the states.
I have NO idea what this piece is, how old it is, who made it.... etc.
Several online "experts" have told me that it looks Czech, Galle or possibly Venetian. No one really knows. Is there ANYONE out there that recognizes this piece or can point me toward someone who would know? If this is Galle (it does look like it from pics on the web) its worth a fortune! No matter anyway, cause I love this lamp.
But, I really would like to know for insurance purposes and my own curiousity...
Any help would be greatly appreciated! email me at crozenberg@att.net
Oh, BTW.... It is opalescent glass, amber in color, with hand painted leaf motif and 24k gold leaf trim. Both top and bottom glow when lit. Lamp is over 24" tall. Very thick blown glass.
definitely not galle. I don't think it's that old either. oldest it would be is 60's with that decoration and brightness of fixtures
