This is a (Harmony) Stella H928 Acoustic Guitar from the mid-late 50's. It's a small bodied guitar, with all solid birch construction. This was my dad's guitar that was given to me as boy, but I never learned to play until I was about 18. I hauled this thing around with me for many years in non-playable condition. The back panel had pulled away from the sides and was quite warped (fairly common with these guitars I hear), three of the braces had fallen off (one of which was lost), and the neck was warped and in need of a reset. I had a friend of mine here in Maryland fix her up for me. He reset the neck, reattached the back and braces (& added a new brace) and scalloped the top braces, dressed the frets, and painted a matching black faux binding onto the back. This thing sounds better than I ever would've imagined.... a truly vintage, bluesy sound. I even still have the original brown cloth case.

Larry - I think the one you're dad just bought is the sunburst finish version of the one I have. These old guitars don't really hold much value other than nostalgic or historic value, but depending upon their condition could be valued anywhere from $50-$100, depending. I couldn't really tell you the age of yours, as I'm pretty sure these we're made from the 50's through the early 70's. A little research should get your more detailed answers.

My dad had one exactly like this, it was my first guitar also and the back and sides were pulled away as well. Could you possibly point me in some kind of direction to buy one of these? In the best shape as possible. I'd like to get my dad one as a gift.
