I received this from my great-aunt over 30 years ago. My husband and I have always joked that it is the "original Lazy Boy". We would really like to know its age and possibly its maker.

Hi, I have just posted about a Larkin Chautequa Rocker Recliner #45. Much of my information has been through http://www.scarboroughmarshfurniture.com/public_html/antique%20morris%20chairs.html
Take a look at this website. Yours is very similar to the Chautauqua Rocker & Reclining Chair #550 made by Larkin Soap Company
Hi Lindad,
Thanks for the suggestion about scarborough marsh furniture! My Rocker & recliner is a Larkin... I have uncovered the original fabric and was thrilled to definitely identify it. I have already email Scarborough Marsh Furniture about making the footstool that mine is missing. The footstool in the 550 appears to be almost identical to yours. I was wondering if you would be willing to take measurements and photos (or make a pattern) so that I might be able to have one made? Please email me at blaisin@tds.net. Thanks, Cindy
HI again,
My Larkin is a #45 and has a little more ornate footstool, but I am assuming that size wise it is still similar.
Thanks
Cindy
I was told today by a lady that inherited one just like this that her grandmother said this chair was given as a gift to those who purchased a certain amount of there soap and that the cost then of the chair was $5. so this chair was made a looooonnnggg time ago. the value of it is what I would love to know!
