I thought these would be interesting to share. My late father-in-law was an avid beatle fan and held on to all of his albums. He was born 1950. We inhereited these and I know about the beatles but nothing about their albums. Any information on them would be greatly appreciated. I tried to take the best pictures that I could :)

haha bradtjdd. I know what you mean. I have beatles cds and enjoy their music. Actually, the first song I learned to play on the piano was "let it be". I just know nothing about their albums as far as vinyls go. lol.

This particular record is not the original 1965 release, but a later one from Apple, using the original 1965 Capitol graphics on the cover. I believe it was released in 1971.
    3. jennyhaps, 13 years ago
      Thanks stefdesign :)

an appraiser on tv show auction hunters said he saw one go at auction for 2300 dollars and also made a comment its very rare only about 30 known to exist and you and i got one hold on to it
    6. packrat-place packrat-place, 13 years ago
Sorry, this is a common variety. stefdesign is correct, it came out in 1971.
    7. stefdesign stefdesign, 13 years ago
I had this record when I was a teen... the original one, not the later version. I can guarantee it didn't have that same label. Apple records didn't even exist until 1968. So, no apple label in 1965.

Hi Stef, Isn't it sad when you can be an authority on "vintage" stuff because you were there then it was new. :)
    9. stefdesign stefdesign, 13 years ago
Ain't that the truth! When I hear the word 'vintage', I can just about guarantee I was there then!

Again I will say, while this is a very nice record, it has minimal collector doller value.
Jerry Osborne has seven varieties of Capitol ST-2228 listed, and none over about $175.00 in MN condition. Besides, if it was an original 1964 release(yes, 1964) how could it have a "Gold Record Award"?
"Apple Records is a record label, founded in 1968 as a division of Apple Corps Ltd. by The Beatles. EMI and Capitol Records agreed to distribute Apple Records until 1975; Apple owned the rights to records by artists they signed, while EMI retained ownership of The Beatles' records."
From Discodogs: Beatles, The– Beatles '65
Label: Apple Records – ST 2228, Capitol Records – ST-2228
Format: Vinyl, LP, Stereo, Album, Reissue
      Country: US
      Released: 1971
      Genre: Pop, Rock
      Style: Beat, Rock & Roll
      Recent sale:
      Beatles '65 / 1971 / Apple ST 2228
      NM / NM / $35.00
Apple issue in great condition. "Mfd. by Apple" on label. I Feel Fine, She's A Woman, No Reply, I'm A Loser, Rock And Roll Music, I'll Follow The Sun, Honey Don't, I'll Be Back, Baby's In Black, Everybody's Trying To Be My Baby, Mr. Moonlight"

    14. packrat-place packrat-place, 13 years ago
      mysteryman,
We are discussing Capitol/Apple ST-2228 and you seem to be discussing Capitol ST-2047, "Meet The Beatles", did I miss something?
    15. mysteryman, 13 years ago
no i am just telling you what i see on the album cover it says capitol gold award and the stnumber is 2047 different than what you have or saw thats why i am questioning the authenticity
    16. packrat-place packrat-place, 13 years ago
What album cover? The one in this post is ST-2228. The Gold Record Award means nothing more then the record sold 500,000 copies and was put on re-issues. It means nothing more then that. What are you looking at?
    17. mysteryman, 13 years ago
im talkin about the album cover and album that i have in my possesion why dont it match yours
    18. mysteryman, 13 years ago
no where on the album cover does it say anything about apple thanx for your help anyway
    19. kerry10456 kerry10456, 13 years ago
I've got a suggestion for mysteryman........... Post your album so that we all can see it and make sure you show the ST # as stated. jenny has posted the pictures on hers and has done a fine job. Thanks Jenny for you letting us use your posting for this happy HS. Now back to mysteryman, You've posted several comments but yet to produce any pictures for us to give you an informative answer to your querries about same. There are several EXPERTS on CW that really do know a thing or two. Hate to be rude, but there's an old saying....... "Put up or Shut up"

Sorry for putting rude comments on your posting Jenny, feel free to delete these if you see fit. KERRY

      fhrjr2,
Yes you did. I am not going to repeat it, however, take it from me, it was not very nice, and had no place here. Above is the excxhange, minus the comment. That is one thing I like so much about this site, the people here are mature adults, and act the same. We do not always agree on everything, however, we resolve our differences of opinion with facts and maturity, without resorting to vulgar name calling.
jennyhaps, sorry to fill up your post with all of this, and thank you for sharing. mysteryman was confusing me and I was trying to get some straight answers out of him.
    22. fhrjr2 fhrjr2, 13 years ago
Just as well I missed it. I have enough problem dealing with some of the posts. Out spoken or having an opinion is fine, debate the issue and have fun. Vulgar names are out of place. It isn't a popularity contest but shouldn't be a need for being vulgar either.
