This is a locket that was given to my brother along with a picture of the women wearing it. The women who gave this item was the daughter of the women in the picture, who is today in her 80's "age". I am curious to know the century of this piece as well as the value. I am intrieged to say the least.
Thank you for your help

Hi there!
I was just snooping around Collectors Weekly looking for top lockets on auction sites and I ran across your locket! It's just stunning! I'm sure you've already gotten replies but I thought I'd give as much info as I knew! I'm a locket collector and those are my favorite types of lockets, they're Late Victorian - early Art Nouveau so around 1880-1915 or so. I have a few with the purple stone in the middle and I find that most of them on the inside have a little heart with "W & H Co.". Which is the Whitman and Hough company. I believe they were in business from the later 1800's to 1920's. Some of them are signed on the rims on the inside (and some lockets don't have the metal rims inside as they're easy to lose) W S B with a little star. Those are the two most popular makers I've seen on these styles of lockets.
I have won a few on ebay at the lowest of $40 dollars - which is an absolute steal, the most I've paid is $100 on ebay. But when you're going for retail prices I'd say on average around $110 - $180 - though I have seen some lower and some higher. Though you never know with auction prices, I've seen some that skyrocket. I hope this helped - I absolutely love your locket it is so pretty! If your family ever wanted to sell it, I'd definitely be first in line! It's a beauty! :)
I love it too, I am fond of the very beautyfull deep blue.
