This nice old Gilbert o6o was put together from parts off an old hudson wreck, a mail order chugger piston, and the smallest bolts and washers that Ace hardware had. (and a folded piece of paper to replace the springs on a truck that smoked when it shorted out while testing. What fun, smokes, chugs, and hauls pretty smooth for my first real try at train repair. I also made some traction tires out of O rings pared down by spinning on a drill and running against a small disc sander.
If any knows a good forum for Gilbert I would be interested. I would like better and wider traction tires. Post any suggestions or tips please.
