Another piece of my mom's. She passed away last year and are coming across alot of her items. Like all the things I will be posting I don't know where or when she got it. Can anyone tell me anything like what it is, what it is made of (white glass or milk glass ?), year, maker, is it worth selliing and maybe a price to list it at. Thanks
the design on this piece is generically called "sandwich glass" and was made by a number of companies. It is milk glass and looks like possibly a fairly recent production. From your pics it looks to be a compote, which is basically a bowl/dish on a pedestal; smaller versions are often called candy dishes.
TC is right, these were made around the 1960s/1970s. Can also be found in a larger compote and also comes in clear. These were used by florists for arrangements. Quite well done for recently made glass, and this particular one often fools ppl into thinking it is older than it is.
I have 2 slightly different versions of this compote and I've had a tough time id ing them. They were made by Anchor Hocking exclusively for FTD. Still looking for pattern name and dates. One is slightly translucent with a taller top rim; the other is completely opaque with shorter rim but feels heavier.
