My mother told me this belonged to her mother. It has been around as long as I can remember. My mother recently passed away, and for many years she tried to identify who made it and how old it really was. She never did find out. When I came across it going through her things, I vowed I would find out. I have yet to find anyone who knows anything about it. It is probably turn of the century (1900) It winds up, playing music ( tune is unidentifiable) while the kitten (with real fur) pops up out of the can and sticks it's tongue out. It always was pretty scary to me. Does anyone out there have any idea where this toy might come from? The only mark is an aluminum maker on the bottom that is hard to read because some sort of bracket is hiding it. I would love any type of feedback Thanks!

Ther is an American version too by Edward Ives Company, Connecticut that featured on the US Antiques Roadshow: http://www.pbs.org/wgbh/roadshow/archive/200501A27.html

But I think scandinavian_pieces has definitely shown you the one you have.

      They are fabulous crowd pleasers!
