      something I left out is the back has a little turning thing that allows the glass to be raises or lowered.

      Thanks for the info vetraio! Ive never even heard of an epergne. I have searched and searched for info on this particular one but no luck!!

      How about Federal Period? I'm an Australian and have a different sensibility when it comes to time periods. Our stuff is more Anglo-centric. Your's has a very "American" look to it. I saw an episode of America's Castles recently and something like it. But it was being used as a table chandelier. Perhaps those glasses had candles in them? Would candles fit into them? Maybe that is a silly idea though. The shape of the top of the four little vases is similar to that on vases for floral arrangements. The ability to lower and raise the armature is a clue.
