My Great Grandad, Warwick Slavin was shot by his Brother in law in the late 1800's, over a dispute over a horse. This caused him to be wheelchair bound. He lived in Greenbank West Virgina. He passed the time by whittling. I had heard stories of the little baskets he would carve out of peach seeds, but never saw one, until a relative gave me hers a while back. My Mom said they were used for necklace's.
Oh a sad story but what a beautiful whittled piece ! Priceless . Love it !
Thanks a lot Manikin and walksoftly.
Ahh, Pocahontas County. Love the peach seed. Thanks for sharing the story!
Thanks officialfuel and havenrain. I have a lot of family there. My Mom and Dad both were born there.
Thanks much scandinavian.
Thank you toolate2. Warick most likely never dreamed anyone would talk about his peach seed 100 years later.
Thanks AmberRose.
