I shipped my grandmother's very large punch bowl, pedastol, and matching cups home and found that the bowl broke in shipment. I need to submit a cost to Fedex so it can be replaced it but don't know much about it. From my little research, it is probably manufactured and not real "cut glass" but I'm not sure. It has to be at least 60 -100 years old, possibly clark hobstars, rounded saw tooth rim on the bowl, very heavy so prossably has lead. Any help would be appreciated. I live in Oklahoma City. Know any antique specialist?

AnnieO, This type of pressed glass that imitated cut glass was enormously popular in the early 1900s up until the 1920s. It may be heavy, but there is no lead in the glass, it was made with a soda lime formula. Value for this type of glass really varies; it is generally not very high in desirability to collectors (though I absolutely love it).
There are different values (for example, fair market value, or insurance replacement value--which is what it might cost to replace the item here and now). I would guess the latter, but did you have it insured with FedEx for a specific amount before you shipped it?
Market varies regionally as well, and you can find large old imitation cut glass punch bowls like this anywhere from $20 up to $200, again, depends on the marketplace and where you are buying. I would suggest doing a search on eBay for COMPLETED auctions to see what they actually sell for. You can't judge anything from an asking price on an auction where nobody bid.

      Good luck

So sorry to hear your punch bowl was broken. The pattern does appear to be 'Fentec' and originally made by McKee Glass Co. Many of the McKee patterns have been reproduced. Similar patterns are still in production by L. E. Smith Glass, with a complete set retailing at $170. Like Paul says, it is very difficult to really estimate a replacement cost for a bowl as prices may vary wildly. Your best bet may be to contact Replacements.com or watch on eBay.

For reference her is a catalog page of the pattern: http://clicksnipwow.com/chataboutdg/img13116.htm
