Believe this doll is from the 1930's, all composition, the doll is not mark but her paper button, states "Miss Babette America's Pet". Would like to know who made this doll and the charactor. She is 20" tall and was storage in a glass cabinet all her live, she is in excellent condition. If you know who made this doll or any other information I would greatly appreciated. Thank you
Mac I am working on her :-) First off I am not sure she is American made she maybe Canada or UK made . She is rare one I can tell you that ! anyway there was a child actress in US named Babette Bain that was in paramount movies in 40's . This tag has a take off on a Shirley Temple look which in confusing . Was she representing Babette Bain ?

There are a few US companies like Roberta that did buy high quality dolls and put their tags on them and dolls are unmarked , I am still researching her but she is not an easy answer and is a very very good doll . Lucky you :-) I will update as I can ok on more info

mac did you look under back of neck under hair for any mark ? She sure has a Effanbee look the more I look at her .The other place she could have a mark is on her upper to mid back can you undo dress to peek ?
"Yes" I did look everywhere and I have look on some of the Effanbee dolls, but she also looks like a Madame Alexander, also I have found a pin-look like the doll's paper tag, but the one in the internet states "Miss Babette Hollywood's Pet" Again I can not find any company who made these pins/tags for dolls. Again thank you for your kindness and if you find anything please let me know. I may add that the gown, slip, camisole/panties is original and all sew together as one piece, no tag on the garments. if this help I did purchase this doll at an estate auction, the owner/lady stated that this doll belonged to her mother and she/Mother purchase the doll in California when she was 21 years old. Mac she looks like hard plastic are you sure she is composition ?

The above doll, would be French made. It has all the characteristics.
The child actress named above, was not from the 40's, rather the 50's
If the doll tags appear to be like the Shirley Temple "Ideal" doll tags, it is purely co-incidence. The doll above looks valuable because of the composite materials
By the fifties, there no dolls created that represented child actresses except
perhaps for Annette Funicello, or Hayley Mills.. The above doll does not represent a child actress from the 1950's much less a Walt Disney actress. I am of the opinion that the above doll is French and the composition materials would bear this out as would any existing clothing pertaining to this doll.
