(1 item)
hi my name is sean. i was in southern california this last week and went through a few antique shops. while i was checking out at one shop i noticed this coca cola tube thing. it showed a price tag of $48 and said it was a mending kit.i inquired about it and come to find it was a small sewing kit, needles and thread included. oh and the lid acted as a thimble. i left and later called seeing if he would take $40 and he agreed and i bought it. now that i am home i have been trying to do research on it and have come up dry. the tag on it said 1937 and all i have been able to find are ones made in the 50's which look slightly different. on the tube it says coca cola DELICIOUS and REFRESHING IN BOTTLES 5C. it also has a patent number on it, 2084730. if anyone knows any info about this please let me know, i am curious to find out. also if anyone has an idea of what it was worth. i liked to know if i got ripped off paying 40 big ones or not.
Here's a link to same for $125

Great link Kerry, interesting item S3an , but I think you might have a "fantasy item' not produced by the Coca-Cola company. A similar one is listed in the 12th edition of Petretti's, pg 621,the case is the same but the logo is "sprite boy", valued @ $1.00
Well if sewing collectors are willing to pay $60+ for similar items, then it's worth more than $1. One man's trash is another man's treasure. I think it's pretty cool.
thanks for the comments. I don't want to sound dump but what is a fantasy item?
Yes this is a fantasy item. Not produced by the Coca-Cola Company. Value as an authentic collectible is nothing.
Stef-- I think that the important thing to understand is that collectors paying $60+ believed it was an AUTHENTIC Coke item.

I was at an antique sale today and picked a similar item up for $10, marked $12. It was for Cities Service Petroleum Products. It looks like a salesman's sample because it lists "Dealer name & address here." It has the same patent number as your Coca Cola one. This is complete, never used. Someone on ebay has one listed for $85. I was unable to locate info on anything else, next step is to check out the patent information to get exact dates.
