Thought I better post something quick tonight before TGBWC gets back from his evening stroll and puts up another incredible find! :)
I picked up my 1905 Lillian Nordica coupon-ad today from framer and tonight she's hanging by the fireplace. The guy at the frame shop (same dude that mounted the banner) gave me an incredible deal on a frame gilded in 18 karat gold leaf. He had a 6 ft. length in his shop which had not moved in 5 years, and he insisted on pricing it at his 2007 cost of $50. So the whole job cost less than $100. When I paid him off today he said today's material cost would have yielded a $300 charge. So here it is, probably my classiest looking piece to date. Hope everybody has a great weekend.

Looks awesome Dave!! That retro look of the frame suits the style of the picture to a tee! Who would think that a frame could cost as much or more than the piece in it? I guess thats why these places never go out of business! Is that big coke bottle in the 3rd pic new also? Is it cardboard or ? The room look fantastic, great place to "pause & refresh"!!
Hey Dave, it looks great man! Now, I gotta know what that big bottle of Coke on your wall is?
Hey Guys, Thanks for your nice comments.
That big bottle is thin metal. I purchased it on a "make an offer" for 2, not too long after I started collecting. I don't know much about it. I posted it on CW last year, never received any comments. Check it out and let me know what you think. I've always felt it was 50's, maybe 40's, and likely a Canadian piece (seller was from the south though). The surface has crazing from age, so I just think it's old. I've not see one like it since. I saw one similar in the Coke website archive, it looked like it had a cap attachment. Thanks again.
Could it be the one on pg 224 of the 12th ed.,top left? Codespeak for not really sure what it is! Don't think it's Canuk though,if it is,I've not seen another! Cool piece Dave!
Thanks Ray!
And you refer to two of my favorite movies, released just about one year apart 1976-77. The farther removed I am from that time, the closer I seem to get to it. Hey, and I do look a little like a young Travolta in my wedding picture, now that you mention it... nah...more like Stallone's "Rocky" after the 15th round with Apollo Creed!
That frame is awsome, the bottle sign is intriguing, but you have your own brand of pretzels!! SWEEET!!!! All looks great buddy!!
Thanks Tommy! The Quinlan's brand pretzel is well known it some parts of the country apparently. Not here in Michigan. I think the factory was in PA but moved to CO years ago. I'd like to try them some day! Unfortunately, no royalty check from that branch of my "family"!!!! *Funny story: One of my first eBay purchases ?10? years ago was ten Quinlan's Pretzels logo sweatshirts. The following Christmas, I wore one to our family gathering, and all my siblings asked "where'd you get that shirt, can you get me one!!!" I said "nah, only one". When the gift exchange came around, I went out to the car, grabbed the bag full of sweatshirts, went inside and just started passing them out. Everybody was yelling, laughing, you would have thought I was doling out $100 bills. Great memory. And you know what? I wore the one I kept today to work, that's how nice it's kept up. -- Dave
Hey Bernie, I've come to associate "TradeMark Reg." as indicating Canadian or international pieces, for some reason.
I've had them pretzels and you'd be proud of the fam, lol!!!
How did I miss this?
It was a couple of years ago. Hard to believe...
