Would like to know more about this rod. It has HDH on the wood near the handle and 23-8 1/2near that. Reel support says South Bend Bait and Tackle. Can anyone tell me more? It's value?

I have a similar rod... split bamboo. It has a numbering 1304-9' ( I assume it is for 9 feet long) that is hand painted at the handle. The rod belonged to my father in Toronto Canada and I know he purchased it in the 1930's. The Shakespeare decal is on the rod as well with their motto "honor made, honor sold". It is in great condition and the threading on the rod is till intact and flawless. That's all I have about it, but am interested in any information also.

This South Bend bamboo fly rod is model #23 at 8'6" total length. Late 1920s or 1930s date (full metal real seat with oval South Bend logo and cigar-shaped cork grip predate the "Comficient" ventilated cork grip that was introduced in the 1940s). HDH is the code for the silk fly line that would have been fished with this rod. Value not more than $100.
