Two pieces of Royal Lancastrian, beautiful glaze. Both bought at flea markets.
I am not sure about who the artists are.
Kind regards from skandinavia.

Hey! Well done. I like both of them They could be quite early. Underneath the mark of the one on the left there might be a Roman Numeral. X = 1910 XIII = 1913 etc.
The one on the right has a very unusual glaze. Can you give some other pictures of the bases with the marks?
Congratulations on some nice Lancastrian vases.
Hi, thank you for your reply, I have added the bases. On the largest one you can faintly see the Roman Numeral XX + 2832. And on the smaller one the is no sign of any other numeral than 2153.
Kind regards.
Hi lass, from Sydney, Australia!
Where are you in Scandinavia?
The "XX" would mean 1920. But I think you should look again. This mark was used only from 1906 to 1913. It might be XII or 1912.
The impressed factory mark of the other piece is a mark used from 1914 - 1923.
The numbers refer to shape numbers.
In 1905 they introduced a shape numbering system. A four digit sequential number starting with 2001. The highest recorded number is 3528.
The later vase is interesting because it is an example of an 'opalescent' glaze, I think.
I think the pots themselves were probably designed by E.T.Radford. Radford was a celebrated potter and Bernard Leach even makes positive reference to him in "a Potter's Book". Radford worked at Royal Lancastrian from 1903 to 1936.
Hi, I've had a look again and it is difficult to determine. XY or XX. And when I look closely at the bottom I can see a very fine hair crack!! Anyway thank you so much for your interest and information. I do have other pieces of pottery and of glass which I will show later.
Kind regards.
